My name is Kim. After completing optometry school, I escaped life as a Southern Belle and headed out west. I now live in beautiful southwest Colorado with my husband of almost ten years and our five year old daughter.
This blog is an effort to show our journey from making no money and having no assets to making money but spending recklessly to finally realizing what is important in life. My hope is to hold ourselves accoutable to the path we have chosen, which includes paying off debt, investing in our future, and basically, working smarter, not harder to spend more time doing fun and exciting family things and keeping our eyes on the dollar.
Hopefully you will enjoy the journey!

I’ve never had any Canadian friends, but I’m thinking I like the Cannucks!
We’re a lovely bunch of people
Best of luck to you and your family on your journey to financial independence! Out of curiosity, how long have you been blogging?
Since August 1, 2012.
Love it Kim! And I love where your values reside and your realization of what is important. I also really love your Twitter slogan: Optometrist trying to find 20/20 financial vision! I may need my eyes checked to get that same 20/20 financial vision
Wishing you the best!

I’ve always worn glasses, so obviously me vision has not been perfect in many ways, but I’m working on it.
Just found your site. Nice sweet and to the point. I look forward to reading about your journey and I am sure I will enjoy it.

Thanks. I certainly hope you will.
Mrs. 1500 and I look forward to following your journey and also visiting your part of the state. We’re outside of Denver and have never made it to the Southwest corner. I’ve heard Durango is spectacular and can’t wait to visit.

It’s hard to get here, but I think well worth it as far as scenery and outdoor stuff. We’re never crowded either.
