Can’t Take My Eyes Off These Blogs #21- It’s Cold!

I realize it’s winter and all, but it’s freakin’ cold here this week. My husband runs the ski club at the school where he teaches because he likes to, and he get three free lift tickets for herding the cats to and from the ski area. It was -12 degrees this morning on his way up. No, thanks. I’m a fair weather winter sports person! It’s been an exciting weekend here at the Eyes on the Dollar house. We had a visit from the tooth fairy last night. She should get extra props for making it out in the frigid weather. I’m learning that you should keep some singles around if you have a kid of tooth losing age. Cold weather makes it seem OK to sit around and watch football. The Broncos are playing as I’m finalizing this list, so if there are typos, please understand.

Can’t Take My Eyes Off These Blogs # 20-I’d Rather Drive Edition

After two really horrible days of plane travel, we’re back from our family trip to Kentucky. I remember the days when air travel was kind of luxurious, but now it seem that livestock gets slightly better treatment during transport. At least on the departing flight, we received $600 in travel vouchers due to cancelled flights. On the return trip, we got an apology from United Airlines for packing us into a plane to sit for two hours because there weren’t enough baggage handlers to load luggage. Oh well, at least we made it safe and sound. It certainly makes road travel seem more appealing. I plan to get back into the blogger mindset this week. I barely turned on the computer while we were out of town.  It was a nice break, and my husband and I took advantage of having a Grandma around, as we got to go out to dinner and to see two movies that didn’t have any animated characters!

Can’t Take My Eyes Off These Blogs #19- I’m on Vacation

I’ll be leaving tomorrow for a week in Kentucky to visit my family. If you could hear my voice as I write this, my twang is getting more pronounced as the minutes tick by. My husband thinks Southern is a whole different language and is amazed at how fluent I can be when the filter is turned off. Kentucky is a beautiful state and one of the only places I know where you can smoke AND buy fried chicken in every convenience store. I might be unplugged next week, so if you don’t hear from me, I haven’t forgotten you. I do have a couple of awesome guest posts and a giveaway lined up for next week, so stop by. It was a short week with the holidays, but there was lots going on the the blogosphere. Exciting news this week: Michelle got engaged. Congratulations! Mentions Eyes on the Dollar got some holiday love from these fine folks: Debt Roundup included my best financial tipin the Best Personal Finance Tips of 2012. My advice to stop being afraid was also shared by I Heart Budgets and Luke 1428. Frugal Rules  and Street Smart Finance were fans ...

Can’t Take My Eyes Off These Blogs #18-Toy Pony Edition

I am so excited to have four days off to do basically nothing. After Christmas parties, Christmas programs, trying to finish year end business stuff, and filling in for my associate doctor whose wife had a baby a week early, I’m surprised I got anything done this week. If I didn’t make it to your blog, I’m very sorry, but there are only so many hours in the day. It was an exciting week on the blogging front as I had my first 300+ visitor day. I know that’s small beans for many of you guys, but I was pretty happy. Our daughter called an audible in the Santa game this week when she changed her mind and is now asking for a toy pony. Do I tell her that Santa doesn’t last minute shop or suck it up and go find a toy pony? Giveaways You can still enter the giveaways for $100, the iPad 3, or Jeremy’s big cash prize. This isn’t a giveaway, but if you haven’t downloaded Sicorra’s blog planner, you really should. What a great gift for us bloggers. Thanks so much. Guest Posts I was very excited to guest post at Making Sense of ...

Make the Weekend Meaningful Roundup

I have had a very challenging week. I found out that the sale of my business is not going to be finished by the end of the year. I hit a deer with my car, and I’ve had to work more this week than I have in a  while. Honestly, though, when I heard about the school shooting in Connecticut yesterday, it was almost to much to wrap my brain around . I have a daughter in kindergarten, and all I could think about was how special she is and how much my heart goes out to the parents of those precious, innocent victims. I’m sure I’ll be back in the swing of things next week, but for right now, Alexa and page rank don’t seem so important. I’m very thankful for all those who read, commented, and shared my posts this week. As for a link list, I’ll just tell everyone to forget reading this weekend and go spend some time with the ones you love. Don’t forget to enter the Big Cash Giveaway at Modest Money or the giveaway for and iPad 3. Eddie at Finance Fox is celebrating his second blogoversary and is also giving away an ...
