7 Gadgets That Can Help You Save Money

gadgets

Gadgets can be addictive. For many people, snapping up the newest product and showing it off to friends and co-workers demonstrates their coolness. Gadgets can also be a source of “keeping up with the Joneses“. I’ve struggled with this personally in the past. But not all gadgets are a waste of money. Some gadgets may actually help you save time and money. Here are some of my favorite money saving gadgets. Tile Tile is a device that allows you to attach it to your keychain, purse, or whatever you sometimes misplace so you can find it again. If you are one of those people who constantly misplace your wallet, for instance, put one inside it and you will be able to locate it quickly with the app on your phone. These days, time is money, so the elimination of wasted time could save you some money at the same time. Rechargeable Batteries Investing in a battery charger and rechargeable batteries make sense if you are going through them often. You can pick one up for around $20, and a 4-pack of rechargeable AAA batteries at Walmart is around $9.  Since the disposable ones run about half the price of rechargeable batteries, ...

Is Laser Hair Removal Worth the Money Spent?

laser hair removal

Unwanted body hair isn’t something that plagues everyone, but for those who have an excess, it is annoying and sometimes time consuming to be rid of it. Ask any woman what part of her beauty regimen she hates the most, and many times the answer will be shaving or waxing.  Of course there are a variety of ways to get rid of unwanted hair besides just shaving and waxing, like using hair removal products and creams, threading, and laser hair removal. But if you decide to “go under the laser” to remove your unwanted hair for good, is it worth the money spent? Here are some things to consider before you decide to try laser hair removal. Are You a Good Candidate? According to a variety of internet sources, fair skinned people with darker hair are the best candidates for laser hair removal treatments. It helps if they also have a high pain tolerance because it takes several treatments in the same area to effectively get rid of or reduce the unwanted hair in your chosen region. 5 Easy Ways to Save on Family Pictures

Time feels like it passes all too quickly. I’ve heard this happens even more when you have young children at home. Several of my friends have kids, and they tell me that all it seems to take is the blink of their eyes to find out their kids have gone from being babies to toddlers to starting school. If you don’t take pictures of them along the way, you’ll regret it as you don’t have the opportunity to go back and do it later. So whenever possible, you should grab a camera or your phone and snap away. Another great way to capture the moment is to have family pictures taken. But that can cost quite a bit if you hire it done and order prints to give to family and friends or hang in your home or at work. It’s sad, but the cost of family pictures can deter some families from having them done a regular basis. If you don’t want to miss these family photo opportunities, but you don’t want to go broke either, here are some ways you can save on family pictures. 1 DIY Doing things yourself has become very popular these days, so why not ...

Why it Pays to Organize Your Grocery List

organize your grocery list

I hate to grocery shop. Like I really loathe it. It takes up a lot of time no matter when I go to the store. I’ve tried going on the weekends, but that’s when all of the 9 to 5 40-hour-a-week-ers go to the store. I’ve tried going during their work hours, but that’s when the elderly people who like to walk slowly and talk in the middle of aisles tend to go to the store. That’s also when the stay-at-home-moms go and it never fails that there’s at least one screaming child in the grocery store. Sigh! (No dig to the moms, I know it’s tough to manage kids in a grocery store.) I know several other people who also dislike grocery shopping. But it’s kind of like doing laundry because it doesn’t really matter that we dislike doing it since it still has to get done if you don’t want to survive off of fast food. But there are ways to make it go faster and smoother. One way is to organize your grocery list. Here’s why you should organize your grocery list. Save Time I try to write my list in the order of where the items ...

Financial Pros and Cons of Small Town Living

Like Kim, I too live in a small town. A few years ago she discussed some of the reasons why she and her family live in a small town, as well as some of the downsides of small town living. Honestly, I think it’s my favorite post of all time from Eyes on the Dollar because I knew exactly what she was talking about in her post. You see, I live in a small town of 7,000 and although I’ve thought about moving at different times over the past few months since I quit my job to pursue self employment, there are a lot of reasons that I keep coming back to small town living as the best option for me. Of course not all of the aspects of small town living vs big city living have to do with finances, but many of them do. If you have ever found yourself contemplating moving to a small town to get away from the big city, or vice versa, check out these financial pros and cons of small town living. Financial Pros of Small Town Living Small town living saves time. One of my favorite things about small town living is ...
