Halloween Humor: Random Things I’m Scared Of

If you read my weekly roundups, you might have seen a few of these already. I never know whether to do a serious post for holidays or not, so for Halloween, this is what you get. If you need a dose of personal finance, go read something at Work Save Live. Jason always has great stuff and is hosting a giveaway for his one year blogiversary!

Things That Really Scare Me

  1. Spiders. I know they eat flies, and I have a soft spot for Charlotte’s Web, but still.
  2. Log Trucks. Afraid the logs will roll off into my car.
  3. Anything that Turns from a Liquid to a Solid at Room Temperature. I had to leave the South because I was scared of gravy.
  4.  Birds. I have been bitten by a parrot, attacked by a chicken, and pooped on by some exotic bird in Florida. They are all out to get me.
  5. Neurologists. It is scary that anyone can be that smart, and if I need to go see one, that is scary in another way.
  6. Running out of Toilet Paper. If I don’t have at least a four pack, I honestly get anxious.
  7. Teenagers. I will have one in 8 years. I better get over this.
  8. The Fiscal Cliff. There have been so many posts about this lately. If you aren’t scared, you’re not paying attention.
  9. Green Gunk that Forms on Nosepads of Glasses. We call it nose cheese in my office. I can deal with any nasty eyeball, but green nose pads I have to pass to someone else.
  10. Polish Food. Who puts potatoes in noodles?
  11. Hurricanes. Turn on the news. I’ve never been so glad to live in a landlocked state.
  12. Losing my Teeth. Being from Kentucky, I have to avoid the stereotype. I have a recurring dream where my teeth fall out. Anyone want to analyze?
  13. Jury Duty. I have never been picked for a jury, but deciding someone’s fate freaks me out.
  14. Speedos. Do I need to elaborate?
  15.  A Southern Granny. I had two strong willed ones. If you didn’t fear them a little, you weren’t being very smart.

If you still want to follow my blog after that list, check in tomorrow for a sweet giveaway I’m participating in. You won’t regret it! Happy Halloween.

Don’t ever turn your back on a bird!

What are you afraid of?

  1. OMG - I am also very afraid of log trucks. I know of a friend of a friend who was killed when a log did roll off of one of them. I hate those things! Have a great Halloween! Have fun Trick-or-Treating!

    • I actually had that happen in school when we had to work with that stuff. Squirted all over me. I think that’s where the phobia came from.

  3. Good idea for a post. I loved #3. My biggest fear is heights. For some reason I just turn to a quivering wimp when it comes to heights. I’ve always hated them for some reason and I don’t know why.

  5. Very solid list. I’d have to agree with log trucks, and spiders. Cockroaches are the worst because they crawl and have wings. And I am terrified of flying :)

    • I don’t like cockroaches, but wouldn’t say I’m afraid of them. We had HUGE ones in Memphis. You could spray a whole can of Raid on them and they’d still walk around like “Ha, that all ya got?”

  6. Did you watch final destination and become afraid of the log trucks? Hahaha, that scene from the movie was scary, I still remember it in all detail. My biggest fear is drowning.

  7. Haha.. sorry nose cheese that sounds SO awful. I’m making a minestrone tonight and it has potatoes and noodles (tubetti) inside does that scare you then lol.. it’s so good though. I’ve never really gave any thought to to things that I’m afraid of. Happy Halloween!! Mr.CBB

  8. I hate spiders and snakes! Heights aren’t my favorite thing in the world but I can manage them fine if I have something to hold onto. The problem with me is that most railings and ledges aren’t tall enough for me. I always feel like I could easily fall over them…so if I’m standing on a tall lookout and there is still a railing, I get a little freaked out (although I’ll still look over…for a second). :)

Thanks for linking to the giveaway!

    • Maybe it has something to do with being concerned about my how I present myself if I have an important meeting or have to give a talk in front of people. If I have it again, I’ll have to see what is going on in my life at the time. I’ve never paid attention.

  16. Teeth dreams! :)

In general, dreams about losing one’s teeth are common and suggest the dreamer feels powerless or out of control in a real life situation. Here are some more meanings for dreams about teeth:

To dream of loose teeth is a warning of untrustworthy friends.

If your teeth fell out or you spit them out, you are anxious about money.

To dream of having a tooth pulled or removed suggests that you have lost, or are worried about losing, someone who has been important to you.

To dream of brushing your teeth represents the clearance of obstacles which have been holding you back.

If you dream of having/seeing wooden teeth, you are feeling apathetic and emotionless. You may be behaving automatically and just going along with the flow. Or you may be acting out without fully thinking things through.

If you dream of having gray or rotting teeth, this may be a sign of health problems - see your doctor.

To dream of getting a cavity in your tooth is sometimes a warning that your health is at risk. The other possible meaning is, you have uttered some false or mean words and those words are coming back to haunt you.

A dream of having broken or unusually worn-down teeth symbolizes the breakdown of an important relationship

To dream of bleaching your teeth indicates a desire to get over bad habits and issues that have been making you unhealthy. It’s also a common dream to have when recovering from an illness.

To dream of having very white and/or even teeth forecasts happiness and prosperity.

If you dream of biting someone, or being bitten by a person or animal, you are engaged in a power struggle with someone.

To dream of having something stuck in your teeth - or picking your teeth - is a warning of false friends in your close circle.

To dream of fangs - whether it was you or someone else who had them - indicates that you have said some words that have been hurtful to others.

    • Wow, I didn’t know there were so many ways to dream about teeth. My dream is that they fall out, so I guess I’m anxious about money! That makes complete sense because we have been working very hard to get out of debt and I’m concerned about the upcoming sale of my business. Thanks so much for the explanations!

  17. Log trucks freak me out, too! I’m convinced there’s no physical way they can secure them safely…
