Eyes on the Dollar 20/20 Roundup #24-Oh No, You Didn’t

adopting puppies

Cute when they’re asleep!

I’ve been working a day a week on the Ute Mountain Ute reservation for almost a year. Nothing special about that, but if you know me at all, I am a huge sucker for stray dogs. There is an endless supply on the reservation. I have turned a blind eye for many months, but finally brought home two puppies who were wandering in the road yesterday. The call to my husband started this way,

“Please don’t divorce me, but….”

He knew right away I was bringing home a dog. He says I could buy a new car, take out a new mortgage, or buy any crazy purchase without that phrase, but if I’m asking him not to divorce me, it must mean a dog. He didn’t divorce me, and we are now fostering two adorable, but very naughty puppies. Never a dull moment.

There will be some great stuff coming up next week, including some awesome giveaways. Come back if you like free money!

  1. I still think those that live in a hut on the Serengeti should read my post 😉

Thanks for the shout out Kim 🙂

  2. Thanks for the mention! Looks like you’re doing an awesome job with the site by the way. Killer Alexa Rank! 🙂

  3. Thank you for mentioning my guest post Kim. I appreciate it. I don’t know if I would be able to handle two puppies, but we do have two dogs at our home, but they are much older now. I do remember the old days when they would go around destroying everything!

  4. Thanks for the mention….looking forward to the upcoming giveaways!

  5. Thanks for the mention Kim! I’ll not share your dog story with my wife…I think we have enough “fun” going on here with three little ones. 😉 Have a great weekend Kim!

  6. It would be hard for me to turn a blind eye as well even though we don’t want any more pets. Mrs. CBB hasn’t used the “Don’t divorce me but… (YET) haha but now I know there’s a catch…Have a lovely weekend mate. Mr.CBB

  7. They look so cute! I want a dog too, but don’t think I would get one from the side of the road. Probably from a shelter or someone who doesn’t want them, the wandering ones have rabies here!

    • Some of the dogs from Towaoc on the rez do have strange viral strains or mange. No rabies that I’ve heard of. I am keeping these away from my permanent dogs until I know they aren’t carrying something. They seem pretty good so far. I really think they were just dumped the day I picked them up. They were a little skinny and very dirty, but did not look like they’d been on their own for long.

  8. Thanks for the mention! Have a great weekend.

  9. The dogs are so cute!!! Have a great weekend 🙂

  10. We just adopted our third dog. Every on eof them have been awesome.

  11. Perhaps if they were kittens! I would love a (one) dog, but alas my husband works for an airline, so we do get to travel (free airfare, standby, not fun) quite often. Our cat can be by himself, I do have a neighbor stop in for a visit. I enjoyed the other posts, my first time visiting your blog.

  12. Very very cute dogs! I think my wife has came close to bringing a few of these home too. That’s how we got our current cat and dog (and that’s enough for us).

  13. Good for you for rescuing those dogs! It’s awesome they have a home now. And thanks for the mention too.

  14. Oh my goodness, SO cute!!! I’m a sucker for dogs too, so I’m totally on your side here. Good thing hubby has a soft heart and agreed to take the cutie pies in. Now that we’ve got some land, we’re hoping to add a puppy to the mix here too. Have a great Sunday, Kim!

  15. They’re so cute!! I have a huge soft spot for animals too. Good for you for fostering them. I fostered a 2wk old kitten a few years ago, had to syringe feed her and everything, so sad.

    • That is really sad. I’m glad you were there. I get depressed sometimes for all the ones I can’t help, but should concentrate more on the ones I can.

  16. Kim, as always I thank you so much for the mention! Cute pups too!

  17. OOOOHHHH! I want your dogs! However, after our last one had to be put down we swore we’d never go thru that kind of pain again – but I do sooooooooo miss having a canine or two around. Enjoy! They’re absolutely adorable.
