Eyes on the Dollar 20/20 Roundup #28-We’ve Been Skunked Again

skunksI really thought by working less at my day job, I would have plenty of time for comments and blogging, but it seems there is always something that fills the day. The foster puppy got adopted:) I’ve had some evening commitments this week, and our dog, Mo, was skunked the other night.

I know I’ve shared my ire for skunks in the past, but really, what other creature is so foul? Is there a purpose in the ecosystem that is fulfilled by skunks? I’m not sure if I still smell it or if my nose lining has been permeated so much that I will smell skunk indefinitely.  I’ve spent about three days trying to de-skunk the house and bathe the dog in all sorts of potions. Sometimes I think I should have built up enough good dog karma to avoid things like this, but then I realize that is probably why it happens. The doggy gods know that I will take care of it and not dump my stinky, thin haired dog out to sleep in the freezing cold, even if it means we all smell like skunk for a few days. Just be glad you can’t smell me through cyberspace.

  1. Thanks for the mention! I knew there was a lot of foolish spending in the world. What I didn’t know was that I could easily be one of those people, just with one Craigslist ad!

  2. Thanks for the mention, friend! EEEWWW on the skunk story. I’m thinking of sharing a similarly gross story about a possum on the blog site. I think with your skunk story, you’ve erased my fears and now I’m ready to go. :-).

  3. Oh Kim, lol.. a kennel! On a serious note though and I’m sure all pet owners agree that when they do bring their pet to a kennel they are picky about what goes on, what they are fed, play times, walk times, etc…our loved ones, even pets deserve that much research. Cheers my friend! 🙂

  4. Thanks for the mention, It is much appreciated! Just curious, have you found a magic potion that works for the skunk yet?

  5. Funny…skunks are really not much a part of my life in NJ/NYC area. I can’t imagine it would be too much fun to deal with, though. Thanks for the mention, Kim, and have an incredible weekend!

  6. Ewwwwww, skunks! 🙁 Poor doggie… The smell of skunk has to one of the worst smells in the world, seriously!

Thanks for the mention Kim! Have an awesome weekend 🙂

  7. Sorry to hear about the skunk. I feel the same way about snakes…what purpose do they serve? 🙂 We have a cat and he has issues all his own, so I don’t know if cats are the way to go. Thanks for the mention Kim and I hope you’re able to get the house fully de-skunkified. 😉

    • In our area snakes eat prairie dogs, which carry plague and mess up your yard. I’m taking the snake over the prairie dog. If only they would eat skunks! Not even vultures will eat skunk roadkill. They just stay there until they dry up.

  8. Thanks for the mention Kim. I hope your skunk problem goes away soon.

  9. Thanks for the mention. I wouldn’t want to go back to kindergarden. Early elementary is one of the darker periods in my life. If I could go back to 5 but having my 32 year old level of physical and speech development… it might have been better.

  10. Thanks for the mention! I really appreciate it. Sorry to hear your dog got skunked-you are a good mom to clean him up and endure the odors! 😀 Enjoy your weekend and hopefully the residue skunk odors fade away.

  11. ah the joys of pets. I don’t think I ever smelled it, I only remember a few cartoons with a poor stinky skunk trying to get friends with other animals, it seems disguting. Thanks for the mention.

  12. Luckily my dog never got skunked. Just curios how long did it take you to get the actual smell from your dog?

  13. I feel or should I say smell your pain! I live in the country and skunks are a pain in the…well you know. Last summer a skunk was attacked or startled by something right outside our open bedroom window. The stentch was unreal. It was so strong it almost smelled like burnt tire rubber. For days when the wind would blow through the house we could smell the skunk smell coming from inside the house outside!

  14. I ended up getting up early for work each morning so that I have some time to comment. It was the one thing I would put off over writing posts. It’s only 15 minutes each morning and it’s helping me so far.

  15. Thanks for including my post Kim. Sorry to hear about your dog getting skunked. I am so glad that we don’t have skunks in Australia as i’m sure Ricky would have also been skunked a few times.

  16. It has to be the WORST smell in the world. I was terrified of skunks growing up in Michigan because I knew I NEVER wanted to get sprayed for any reason. I realize now they have to be really provoked. Sorry that happened. I have to say though, they are kind of cute…if it wasn’t for that nasty smell.

  17. Thank you for including my guest post from Evolving Finance; I’m glad you liked it! 🙂

  18. I have been feeling my stuff at work never ends these days either. Each day just seems to be getting busier. Hopefully things slow down for the both of us soon.
