Eyes on the Dollar 20/20 Roundup #42- Home and Gone Again

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July whether you celebrate Independence Day or not. We’ve had tons going on here. Jim and I finally made it back from San Diego after our car broke down on the way home. You’ll be hearing more about that soon! We did get to visit the San Diego County Fair and had some really good, but unhealthy food. Nothing like the bacon donut, but it wasn’t organic veggies for sure.

Why is bacon added to everything at the fair?

I competed in a triathlon on Thursday. I guess you could say I finished more than competed. This year it was divided into two divisions, an easier one for recreational athletes and a longer competitive division. For some reason, I chose the longer one. I guess it was to challenge myself a bit more. It still wasn’t that long in the whole scheme of triathlons, but it certainly was long enough for me. I actually did get 5th place in the women’s division, but there were only 5 entrants, so I’m not sure that’s much to be proud of. Anyway, I’m glad I did it.

We are leaving town again Tuesday morning for our much awaited trip to the Pacific Northwest. I’ll have a guest post on Monday and some other things while I’m gone, but you might not hear from me that much otherwise. I’m on vacation!

If you haven’t entered the giveaway for $480 in cash, what are you waiting for?

  1. Congratulations on completing the triathlon. That’s quite an accomplishment.

I have riding my bike and exercising more recently. I don’t know what I’m training for if something comes up, I’ll be ready for it. At least I’m feeling a lot healthier.

    Thanks for the mention.

  2. That stinks about the car. ๐Ÿ™

    Thanks for the mention!

  3. Good to know you finished triathlon and you were 5th doesn’t matter how many entrants, more important is your participation and completion. By the way congratulations on 1st anniversary of your blogging journey

  4. Finishing a triathlon is quite an accomplishment. I could do the running and bicycling fairly easily. The swimming would exhaust me though. You should be proud of just finishing.

    • I am, but I always feel I should have done better. I’m not sure whether I like being last in a harder category or near the top in an easier one.

  5. Kim, a triathlon – that is AMAZING! Congrats to you!!!! Glad you guys are enjoying your vacation time – can’t wait to hear more. Thanks for the mention, and have a great weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Congrats on completing a triathalon- I could conceivably do bike and swimming, but my knees would just laugh at me (and then go out) if I tried to run.

Yay PNW trip. If you have time while in Seattle, let me know. I’d love to get together for for coffee/tea. Might be a little harder with the new job, but I’d certainly give it a try.

  7. ha ha a bacon donut sounds…kind of interesting but belch on the tummy! congrats on the tri! Sorry to hear your car broke down. My compressor just crapped out on me and it’s not even a year old. I’m hating my car right now. A LOT!

    • At least we didn’t break down in the middle of the freeway in LA, but it still wasn’t very fun. However, I can now say that I have ridden in a tow truck.

  8. Congrats on competing in the triathlon and finishing. All that matters is that you met your goals. Not too sure about the bacon donut though, doesn’t sound like my kind of thing. Have a great holiday mate. We’ll be here, waiting for your return. Cheers

  9. Was it in San Diego you were going to the Train concert? congrats on the triathlon, I just finished a 25min run and it was pretty much the end of the world haha!

    • Yes, we did see train at the fair. It was very fun. Going from not running at all to that is a pretty big deal.

  10. Have fun up here. The weather is BEAUTIFUL right now, and so many things to see/eat. Thanks for the mention ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Congrats on finishing the triathalon! That’s a great accomplishment. Also, enjoy your vacation this week!
