6 Ways to Use Social Media to Save Money

Take a look around on any given day and you will probably see more than one person clicking away on their cell phone. The odds are high at least one of them is using social media.

The truth is, most of us like and use social media on a daily basis through any number of different sites. But did you know you can also use social media to save yourself some money?

If you are trying to keep within a strict budget, you may be able to use these social media tips to save money.

Turn on Pinterest Notifications

If you’ve pinned an item on Pinterest that is for sale in a retail store, you may be able to find out when the price has been lowered by turning on notifications for that pin in your Pinterest settings. Then, when the item you pinned goes on sale, you can buy it at a discount. Just hurry before there are none left. Popular items on Pinterest tend to sell out quickly!

Use Facebook Coupon Codes and Groups

Some of the companies you “Like” on Facebook will offer coupon codes and discounts as a reward to followers. But thanks to Facebook algorithm changes, you might feel frustrated because you aren’t seeing the Facebook posts from your favorite pages. To avoid this, make sure you have notifications turned on. You can also get those posts to show up higher in your feed. Select “See First” on the pages you like on Facebook so you don’t miss out on savings.

Another way to use Facebook to save is by joining exclusive VIP groups for your favorites products and companies. Even many direct selling companies allow their representatives to set up Facebook Groups and sale events to market products.

Do a Hashtag Search

You can do hashtag search to find savings on many social media sites such as Twitter and Instagram. Another way to add to your change of finding savings with these searches is to add words such as “discount” or “coupon” to your hashtag or search term. There are also hashtags exclusively for couponing, such as #ExtremeCouponing, you can use to help you save even more.

Watch YouTube

There are money saving tips to be had through YouTube as well. Many popular channels are sponsored by companies who offer discounts to the followers of these video accounts. Plus, you can also find “how to” demonstrations you can watch to help you save money by DIYing projects too.

Sign Up for Emails

Lots of stores use email to notify their customers of special discounts, coupons, and promotions. Check out your favorites and sign up on their lists so you don’t miss out on great savings opportunities.

Use Free Printables

Pinterest has tons of free printables from recipes to patterns to organizational charts, and more. These freebies are designed to help you save money in many different ways so be sure to use them when they are available.

If you enjoy using social media already, why not take advantage of some of these tips to save money while you scroll through your feeds anyway.

  1. I love how we can get advantages from searching keywords on Instagram and Twitter. But I get more discounted products from Instagram than Twitter.
