Can’t Take My Eyes Off These Blogs #10-Ed McCaffrey Edition

Another Saturday, where does the time go? Today, we went to see Eddie McCaffrey, former receiver for the Denver Broncos. A new sporting goods store was opening up, and apparently he’s the main attraction. I wouldn’t drive an hour to meet most NFL players, but steady Eddie was always a good role model and a great team player. Plus, my husband was a big fan. The only other famous person I’ve ever met at a meet and greet was Slash at an optometry convention of all places. Can’t imagine what he thought of the crowd!

Eyes on the Dollar was mentioned in quite a few places this week. Thanks so much for sharing. It’s so fun to see those pingbacks pop up. Please let me know if I missed anyone.

Have you ever met anyone famous? Were they shorter than you imagined?

  1. Thanks for the mention Kim. I once got to meet Michael Jordan, which was pretty cool. Have a great weekend!

  2. Thanks for the mention Kim! I never met anyone internationally famous, but I was at a Cat Stevens concert in a very small place, and Bono from U2 came to sing a couple of songs. Since the complex was so small he was very close to us, and he was shorter than I would have thought!

    • That must have been a very cool experience. I’ve been to concerts where there is a secret guest, but never along those lines. I’ve also heard that Bono is pretty short. Looks larger than life on stage, though.

  3. No, can’t say that I have ever met anyone famous here in Canada or in the UK. I’m sure they are just like everyone else except they live a life that most of us will never experience. I’d like to try though lol… Thanks for the mention Kim.. and I’ve posted some photos from the Welfare Food Challenge on my Facebook page and will be posting my Sunday Recipe today made with ingredients from my grocery shop. Cheers Mr.CBB Have a lovely weekend.

  4. Thanks for including Mr. PoP’s series! Glad you liked it!

We’ve never gone out of our ways for celebrity meet and greets like that, but every once in a while in Florida you end up seeing someone who was/is/famous/on a reality tv show. [That FL stereotype is somewhat true…] But the experiences always end up being fairly ridiculous.

    • When I was there for a short while, I lived near Palm Beach and we drove past Estee Lauder’s house quite often. There were also many celebrities in the area.I never saw anyone famous, but I bet you would if you were there long term.

  5. Thanks for including us Kim!

I have met a few famous people in my day. I met Jesse Ventura once, and he was a bit smaller than I expected. It is kind of weird how people you see on TV aren’t as big in person. I think that a TV or movie screen just makes them seem larger than life.

    • I would have thought he would be huge! I haven’t ever seen Tom Cruise, but he frequents Telluride, where I work sometimes. Apparently he’s super small and short.

  6. Thanks very much for the link love! Really appreciate it.

The closest I came to meeting anyone famous was when I was in a small restaurant in Beverly Hills, CA one evening and Renee Zellweger and Richard Gere were sitting in the table beside me hosting a party because they had just won an award for the movie Chicago. An evening I will never forget.

And Renee was as short and as thin as she looks on screen.

    • I saw Paula Abdul at a mall in Las Vegas once. I couldn’t believe how tiny she was. Richard Gere would be a cool one to see for sure.

  7. Kim, nice roundup. I see we read some of the same blogs 🙂 The only celebrity I’ve ever seen was Earl from My name is Earl. He was shopping at Pottery Barn.

  8. Thanks for the double mention! I hope you got to watch one of those fine Halloween flicks!

    • Our Redbox is pretty limited, so I couldn’t find Johnny Depp, but we did watch the Avengers and Thor for a real superhero weekend. Haven’t watched two movies on a weekend in forever. I actually stayed awake for both of them too. Amazing.

  9. Thanks for the mention Kim! Hope you had a great weekend, sounds like it was busy!

  10. I was lucky. Working in television for 9 years, I got to meet many famous people. They were almost all smaller than you imagined and most were more fragile than you thought beforehand.
