Are Any Black Friday Deals Worth Fighting the Crowd?

I have a big goal this year of not getting sucked into any Black Friday deals. I hate crowds, rampant consumerism, and marketing ploys that make people think they are saving money by spending more. That being said, Black Friday does offer some pretty sweet deals. In my rule book, if purchases are necessary or add value, are something you needed to buy right away,and are at the best price, it’s probably time to pull the trigger when a good deal comes along. Right now, I’m on the fence about going to any stores on Black Friday, but in the name of saving money, here are some deals that could make it worth fighting the crowd on Black Friday. Target Gift Cards Target is offering maybe the most attractive Black Friday deal of all, 10% off up to $300 in gift cards in stores AND at Target.com on Friday the 28th between 6AM and Noon. You can use the gift cards starting on Saturday the 29th, and they don’t have an expiration date. I love deals like this because it’s a flat 10% off. No Buying Clothes for a Year: Did I Make It?

At the beginning of the year, I made a pledge to myself, no buying any new clothes or shoes in 2013. After paying off our credit cards for good at the end of last year, I think it was my way of giving the middle finger to consumerism. I also thought it would provide a good idea of what I actually needed and didn’t need in a wardrobe. When you buy new stuff all the time, it’s easy to lose track of the clothes you do have. Well it’s December, so did I make it a full 12 months without buying clothes? Not Exactly I did not buy any clothes during the first part of the year with two exceptions. 1) I had $30 in Old Navy e-gift cards that would have expired this past summer. I bought some work out pants and two dresses that came out to $31.60, so I spent $1.60. I could have come under, but it would have meant not maxing out the gift cards, and I hate not taking  free money. 2)There was a Ralph Lauren Outlet about an hour away from us.
